In Glacier Chat, there are two types of group chats available: Invite Only Groups and Open Groups. Each serves different purposes depending on the size and privacy needs of the group.
Invite Only Groups
- Designed For: Small groups (fewer than 10 users)
- Message History: No message history is stored
- Encryption: End-to-end encrypted, ensuring only group members can read messages
- Best For: Confidential conversations within smaller teams or groups that require maximum privacy
Open Groups
- Designed For: Larger groups with more than 10 users
- Message History: Message history is stored, allowing members to access past conversations
- Encryption: Messages are encrypted in transit, providing security during data transmission
- Best For: Communities, forums, or large teams needing shared message history
